Make Tea with This Herb to Stop Joint Pain

In this video we will show you how devil's claw tea can help protect joint cartilage and relieve joint pain.

Native to southern Africa, devil's claw (Harpagophytum procumbens) gets its name from the tiny hooks that cover its fruits.

In the past, devil's claw was used to treat pain, liver and kidney problems, fever, and malaria. It was also used in ointments to heal wounds, boils and other skin problems.

Devil's claw was introduced to Europe in the early 1900s, where the dried roots were used to stimulate appetite, treat heartburn, and relieve pain and inflammation.

Today, devil's claw is commonly used in Germany and France to fight inflammation or to relieve arthritis pain, headaches and back pain. Animal and test tube studies suggest that devil's claw may help fight inflammation.

An analysis of 14 studies in which devil's claw was used to treat arthritis found that higher-quality studies showed that devil's claw can relieve joint pain.

And a review of 12 studies in which devil's claw was used to treat arthritis or low back pain found that devil's claw was at least moderately effective for arthritis of the spine, hip, and knee.

There's also preliminary evidence that devil's claw can relieve neck and low back pain.

If devil's claw is taken at the recommended dose over a short period of time, medical experts believe it's nontoxic, safe, and has few side effects.

High doses may cause mild stomach problems in some people. Researchers don't know if it's safe to take devil's claw over a long period of time.
