Who Can Get Addicted to Nicotine?
People usually start smoking in their teenage years. It starts as a “cool” thing to do for most, while others start just because they wanted to see how it felt. If your parents were smokers, you’re also likely to start yourself.
Movies and video games also play an important role in making smoking look “cool”. Although ads for smoking are rare, they still exist in the media. Research suggests youngsters who see their favorite actors smoking in movies tend to mimic the same behaviour.

How Does Nicotine Affect You?
The nicotine in tobacco, along with other chemicals, goes directly into your bloodstream after being inhaled by the lungs. Once in the blood, the chemicals travel quickly to the rest of your body.
When you ingest nicotine in small amounts it can give you a pleasant feeling. This is especially appealing when you’re on edge and stressed out.
